Changes

Don’t wait for things to get easier, simpler, better. Life will always be complicated. Learn to be happy right now. Otherwise , you will run out of time.

Well it has been over a month since I began posting “a picture a day”. For me, it has been fun, sometimes easy, sometimes “oh I have to get a picture” with the corresponding results. But the fun part has been causing me to notice the changes in the world day to day. Not human changes, but world changes, primarily season changes. For me here in alaska it is winter to spring. Living in the sub Arctic those changes occur blatantly every day. Ups and down variations, but relentless changes. I love it as I ride the bike or drive around noticing the melting snow, and what remains, or the promise of plants sprouting as temperatures rise slowly above freezing. The return of daylight! (Official twilight and daylight extends from 5 am to 11 pm now)

This COVID pandemic has caused me to look inward and evaluate. And to look more at the here and now. Plan ahead but realize things change. And to see the beauty of where I live. Often one seems to over time take ones own environment fro granted. We have not travelled since the pandemic began. Travel being on an airplane to somewhere outside alaska. Travel is wonderful, do not get me wrong, seeing different things, different ways, and a change or routine.

I have friends who would love to travel more, but can’t leave because “this week this happens” and next week “that happens” and they can’t miss it. I understand that idea better now – well maybe I do. ( I still want to travel though)
